See what’s cookin’ for lunch tomorrow at some of the best food trucks in the Bay Area. Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton is launching its “Street Eats” lunch fest, which will take place every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the next three months—and there should something for everyone at the myriad trucks offering savory but inexpensive gourmet cuisine.

“We hope everyone is excited and likes it,” says Stoneridge spokeswoman Carrie Williams. “There’s a huge daytime employment population around here that they can tap into, and it’s kind of like a pop-up restaurant where we’ll have something new all the time."

The Food Truck Mafia, a gourmet food truck events company based in Fremont, is bringing five food trucks to the first ever Street Eats. Meat lovers are sure to like GrillStars, which serves all-American classics including pulled-pork sandwiches and smoked corn beef sandwiches. The truck also offers a meaty “Vevaterian” sandwich that comes with all meats and toppings. El Malecon will also be there, serving up dishes like fresh Mexican-style fish tacos, ceviche, and shrimp and cheese empanadas. Meanwhile, the House of Siam on Wheels will be offering authentic Thai cuisine.

Still not satisfied? Those with a sweet tooth will find happiness at That’s Sweet, serving sinful desserts such as whoopee pies, cupcakes, and mini pies. Another option is Twisted Chill, which whips up an inventive non-dairy soft serve that comes in eight rotating flavors and over 20 toppings, including fresh fruits, cereals, and a variety of candy.

The food trucks will rotate each week depending on who is available, but there will be at least five, and possibly up to ten, trucks every Friday. And though it may be new to the Tri-Valley, the food truck craze is beginning to spread, as there are now festivals in Newark and Union City.

“These things normally take place in much more urban settings like San Francisco or San Jose, so we're excited to bring it to the Tri-Valley," says Williams. "And the truck owners are excited too: They don't usually get out to this area.”
