Boutique Peek: Deliciouz in Walnut Creek
Fun shoe shop features top designers, and sweaters, jeans, and tees.
Tamara Vladic had dreamed about designing her own line of footwear while working 9-5 for a marketing firm in San Francisco, but it wasn’t until her husband surprised her with a business license that she decided to finally pursue her passion and open a shoe boutique.
Later, in a designer’s hotel room surrounded by at least a hundred pairs of shoes, Vladic couldn’t believe this was her reality. “I could do this for a living?,” she remembers asking. “Great!”
Today, Vladic can be seen bustling around her six-year-old Walnut Creek boutique, Deliciouz, whose new location opened in March. The shop is filled with autumn classics: metallic evening sandals, leather ankle boots and embellished suede flats, as well as beautiful leather purses and satchels in eye-popping shades of green and orange from the LA-based designer Linea Pelle. Everything in the store is hand-picked by Vladic herself, and she’s very thoughtful about her selections.
“I buy from the gut,” says Vladic. “If it doesn’t move me, I won’t sell it.”
In addition to shoes and bags – her first two loves – Deliciouz also carries sweaters, jeans, tees and beautifully delicate necklaces that echo the styles carried by the previous tenant, Hush.
Who you’ll see here: Polished women in their late 30s – mid/late 60s. Many of the styles are young and trendy, but an entry-level income may not cover the price tag.
What you can expect to find: Classic and easy-to-wear pieces from both European and Bay Area designers. The styles are cohesive throughout the store, so creating an entire outfit is easy – and Vladic will happily help you do it.
Mark your calendar: If you missed last weekend’s trunk show featuring San Francisco-based designer Martha Davis, be sure to stop in and check out the new jewelry, belts and dresses coming in soon. They make for great holiday gifts!
1354 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek, (925) 933-7489, deliciouz.com.
