Boutique Peek: Edge in Danville

Sexy men's shop offers upscale casual and a fun shopping experience

They may dress rock stars and Yul Kwon, the winner of Survivor: Cook Islands, but at Edge, every man is treated as a celebrity.

Entering the boutique, which moved to its new location down Prospect Ave. over the summer, is like walking into someone’s den: the wood paneling and rustic décor give the space a relaxed atmosphere, and the ram’s head mounted on the wall - affectionately known as “Pete” – adds to the cabin-like feel of the one-room shop.

Inside, you’ll be greeted by a highly-trained wardrobe consultant and offered an espresso or a bottle of their signature branded water. These employees are meticulous about every detail of their service and merchandise quality, eager to help you discover your personal style and piece together the perfect ensemble to reflect your unique personality.

Founded and still owned by Danville resident Todd Weinberg, the three-year-old shop fills the need for a quality men's boutique in the East Bay. “We’re the guilt shop for men in Boutique Alley,” Weinberg says of the shop’s new location.

Who you'll see here:
A range of ages, but primarily men in their mid/late 20s up to late 40s who are looking for sophisticated, well-edited, casual wear.

What you'll find: An array of designer denim from hot labels including Joe's Jeans, Chip & Pepper, Stitches and William Rast (co-founded by Justin Timberlake), novelty tees, classic wovens, dress shirts by Robert Graham, leather belts and Diesel jackets, and a nice array of Tsovet watches. Don’t forget to grab a pack of store-branded playing cards near the register—the Joker card at the top of the deck will get you 15% of your next purchase.

Look out for: Shaving demonstrations and personal maintenance clinics in-store. Edge has recently added a Vintage 1914 Koken barber chair to their collection of shaving products and is currently interviewing barbers.

A classic vintage-style shoe shine stand is set up on the sidewalk when the weather's nice, but for now, it’s located inside under Pete.

Mark your calendar: Weinberg is hosting this weekend's Boutique Blitz, a huge end-of-season sale featuring 10 local boutiques with merchandise marked down 30-75%. The event will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in downtown Danville's Veterans Hall. Entry is free. Be sure to stop by the Edge stall to check out their new line of Edge Artesan Soaps for Men, featuring organic soap and shaving cream made from goat's milk.

You'll be bringing sexy back in no time.

My wife and I are thrilled to have a shop where I can express my fashion taste and enjoy the masculine feel of a comfortable lodge. I'm looking forward to getting a shave with the goat milk soap you are featuring. Now it's my turn to sit in luxury in that very cool chair I've enjoyed looking at in your shop. Thanks for the experience - just for men. Sincerely, a private and shy gentleman with a wife that has great taste
