Classic Film Series: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
7/11 and 7/25 The Pleasanton Library kicks off this year’s Classic Film Series with the 1917 silent film Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, which was inspired by the Kate Douglas Wiggin novel. Don’t miss the Abbott and Costello comedy It Ain’t Hay (1943) on July 25th, either—Pleasanton was used as a filming location for both films. cityofpleasantonca.gov.
7/12 and 7/14 Award-winning soprano Shana Blake Hill leads the cast of Susannah, the beloved American opera that tells the story of a teenager targeted by vicious gossip in a small Tennessee town. The 90’s Experience
7/12-8/31 Relive the 1990s at this interactive pop-up museum featuring fashion, music, and pop-culture relics from the pre-social media decade. Expect tributes to pagers, Nirvana, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Friends—among many other flashbacks that engage all five senses—at this 6,000-square-foot blast from the past in Oakland’s Jack London Square. experiencethe90s.com.

7/12-11/21 BAMPFA’s latest film series highlights the work of female cinematographers and offers a look into the artistic visions of women from around the globe in order to ask whether or not a “female gaze” really exists. bampfa.org.
Mac and Cheese Week Fest
7/13-7/14 Oakland’s beloved mac and cheese emporium celebrates the national food holiday with live music, macaroni art, games, giveaways, face painting, and a recipe competition.
