Gabrielle Union has found a stylish new way to “go green.”

The longtime Pleasanton-resident-turned-Hollywood-star has joined forces with Dreamgirls stars Beyoncé Knowles and Eddie Murphy and hip-hop producer Russell Simmons to promote the Green Initiative Jewelry line. Made from native African materials, including green malachite beads and a conflict-free diamond, the unisex Green Bracelet sells for $125; half of the net profits go to educational programs in African communities.

Union fans have plenty to look forward to on both the small and big screen in the year ahead. The 34-year-old actress (pictured with actor Rick Gonzalez) just wrapped the holiday drama Perfect Christmas, with Terrence Howard, and the noir thriller The Box. She’s currently filming a new television series, Football Wives, about the wives of NFL players. The show might not be much of an acting stretch for Union—she was married to former NFL running back Chris Howard. Now divorced, Union is rumored to have reunited with her high school sweetheart, NBA star Jason Kidd.
